SBC Exec Board

Elections

Applications for the new SBC Exec Board are out!  The application was attached to the email with Issue 22 of the newsletter.  If you didn't receive this email, let Max Schneider know at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and he'll send you a copy.  They need to be sent back to Max by Thursday, May 7th at midnight.  Any late applications will not be accepted.

 Position descriptions are below:

Internal VP

Inernal Vice President is in charge of all “internal” campus activity like relations with other student groups and scheduling.  Scheduling consists of reserving rooms whether for a meeting or for an event.  Also, getting tables would fall under scheduling.  The biggest responsibility of the internal vice president is the PB and J Marathon.  I will be able to go over this in detail with whoever the next vice president is but a quick summary of what this responsibility consists of is: creating committees for donations, music, etc.; calling businesses about donations; picking up supplies and getting them to the event; and any other small detail that needs to get done.

External VP

As VP of external affairs my major role is to handle business for SBC outside the scope of UC. The most important responsibility is to seek out volunteer opportunities with other organizations outside of UC, and any other opportunities for SBC. A few examples include partnering with People Working Cooperatively (PWC) for the Prepare & Repair Affairs in the fall and spring. This also includes fund raising for the PB&J marathon by contacting donors and other people. As the VP of external affairs I am also in contact with the other officers on a regular basis.

Webmaster

The Webmaster is responsible for upkeep of SBC's website (currently in the works).

There is also a role as a designer to create posters/flyers for SBC meetings and events.

Treasurer

The role of the treasurer is to organize, record, and distribute all monetary aspects of SBC.  Handling all banking activities and recording all cash flows into our excel spreadsheet are the main duties.  Upon trips return reimbursement checks will need to be calculated and distributed.  Work a lot with the president(s) on a weekly basis regarding anything and everything that is happening with SBC, and making sure the numbers match up with the activities.

Fundraising

Organizing fundraisers that have been used in the past (security at Bengals games, selling programs at UC games, and etcetera).  Finding workers for all fundraising events and making sure they show up and work the event.  Handling any necessary money, and delivering it to the SBC Treasurer.  Discovering new fundraising opportunities and building relationships with new contacts to help SBC raise money.

Secretary

The secretary is primarily responsible for taking minutes at both exec and student body meetings as well as updating the newsletter.  There are also tasks that pop up throughout the quarter, such as collecting information or contacting outside organizations.  It is important to be well organized and detail oriented in this position.

SBC Has A New

Trip

SBC is in the process of adding a new trip to Peru to our repertoire.  We will be working with former SBC member, Monique Jindal on a project nearby where she lives.  Check out the organization's website at www.hampy.org
